Maïlis is a half French, half Canadian Montreal based director. She comes from a background in psychology and production design.
As a proud feminist, she is drawn to projects that empower women and provoke discussions. She always portrays her ideas in her own way. She firmly believes that as image makers, we are responsible for what we create and put into the world. Therefore, she hopes that her filmmaking practice will not only represent and amplify her voice as a woman but also others, thus nurturing a community.
To feed her artistry, she always navigates between strength and vulnerability. She is all about visual work that exudes emotions. She created a body of work that pairs a strong visual aesthetic with an effecting, emotional approach. Through her direction, she aims to match what is real to what is beautiful.
Maïlis first music video was nominated both at the Toronto International Women Film Festival and the London Music Video Festival in addition to win Best Music Video at the New York Independent Cinema Awards.
